Myocardial ischemia occurs when blood flow to the heart muscle (myocardium) is obstructed by a complete or partial blockage of a coronary artery by a buildup of plaques (atherosclerosis).
In simple words Ischemia reduces the heart muscle's ability to pump blood.
More then 20 scientific studies shows that biological effects of acoustic waves are mediated by a process called mechano-transduction, which influences cell migration, adhesion, apoptosis and viability.
The case is similar to cell stimulation that activates a chain of processes: angiogenesis first through regulation of endothelial-specific genes and markers such as endothelial vascular growth factor (VEGF), thereby improving wound healing and blood flow resulting in end-stage tissue regeneration and rehabilitation and finally, improving cardiac Ischemic condition
